She went to the same Starbucks spot she always goes to and ordered what she always ordered: a no-foam vanilla latte with an add shot. Everything was the same as it's always been, except that day--that day was different.
She was engaged.
As she took sips of her latte, she made it a point to use her left hand to raise her drink up just to take a glimpse at her ring finger. Newly dressed up with her elegant silver diamond ring she felt--happy, excited and overwhelmed.
Overwhelmed with all the work that needed to get done to plan her wedding. Her and her fiance planned to have a spring time wedding. She still needed to book all her vendors: venue, florist, make-up artist, and her photographer.
When the newly engaged couple decided on their perfect photographer, they felt something they haven't felt in a while: relief.
As a photographer, I always tell people how important it is to get their engagement photos done. Why?
Because I believe it gives a sense of relief. It allows my clients to get to know me and how I work. Most people have never been professionally photographed, therefore, may not know what to do or what to expect.
At my engagement sessions, we take our time, get creative and have fun. I talk to my clients through the process of your session. I guide them and let them know what's working and what other options we have in terms of natural light, what they're wearing, and flow posing. We find out what your best sides are (let's face it, we both know you have one lol), what you feel comfortable doing and not doing.
My hopes as an engagement photographer is that I make my clients feel as comfortable as can be. Of course, you're going to feel nervous, and awkward...and let's face it a bit awkward (have I mentioned awkward?). But here's the thing, THAT'S OKAY. You're not the only ones. I promise you that.
So, use your engagement session to get rid of most of those nerves inside your belly. 'Cause aside from a glass of champagne, I also want you to have those butterfly nerves--because those are the good kinds of nerves. :)
Engagement session are supposed to be light and light-hearted. Let's have fun with it!
