Month in Review: April 2018

4/30/2018

As I close out the last week of April, I am just filled with just gratitude.

Today is my birthday, which is it's what I like to think of as the end of a chapter and the beginning of a new chapter as May rolls in. This month had so many highlights for my business and I'm so glad you're here to reminisce with me as I go through everything amazing that happened.

End of an Era!

  • I rolled out my Spring Mini-Sessions at the beginning of the month, and it was so worth it. I got such a great response and had the opportunity to book some amazing first-time clients from them. You guys are awesome! And in case you missed it, a couple of weeks ago, I even wrote a how-to guide on spring sessions to help put together your next session which you can find over here.

  • I started the month with such a sweet in-home newborn session who slept right through it all. This was my second newborn session of 2018.

  • I got to photograph a Mickey Mouse impersonator as he celebrated his 1st birthday with a cake smash in one of my favorite parks in the San Fernando Valley.

  •  Last week, I was asked by my dear sweet friend, Angely to photograph her family at the cutest little train stop town in Griffith Park called Travel Town. For someone who's been to Griffith Park a million times for numerous hikes throughout the years, I have never really walked through this area. Such a cool place for kids (and adults!)

  • A few weeks ago, I was challenged with loosing all my Photoshop Actions (which are basically like pre-made filters I made for my photos), which to some might be a big deal. But you guys, I loved them. I was devastated. Then I got immediately over it because #firstworldproblems. With all that said, I've come to terms with this and had to bring myself to realization that I am more than capable to recreated my own style and bring life to my photographs because it's all my own work. Sure, it's going to take a little longer, but that's okay. It's still "figure-out-able".

  • I've listened to SO MANY PODCASTS this month. I'm often in my car, so podcasts and music keep my brain from exploding into mush as I sit through 4 hours of traffic five days out of the week. If you're interested in what podcasts I listen to let me know. I'll be happy to list them out for you.

  • As my quest to see more of California, for my birthday, I decided to go to Heart Castle and experience this beauty for myself. I am super excited to share these images soon!

  • This month, I focused on the numbers and the less glamorous side to my business: finance. I broke down all the monthly costs of doing business and where I need to be to fulfill a full year's salary as a photographer. It's scary, but like they say,

“If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough.” - Muhammad Ali

Here's to the next chapter!

Welcome, 32! Woo!
