There are couples that I love working with for the sake of working with them, and then there are couples that I am in love with working with them.
Let me explain this a bit more...
I placed a model call for real LGBTQ+ couples in the Los Angeles County area who were willing to hang-out with me and get a some cute portraits while we were at it. Melissa and Alex were so generous with their time and energy to meet with me during their busy schedules.
Our session took place at Manhattan Beach, Ca along the boardwalk and throughout what seemed like the neighborhood's backyards. The day evening was gloomy and overcast with smoke from recent SoCal fires which made the sky orange and flat. But that didn't stop us from working through what was given to us.
They brought along their two sweet and lovable fur-babies, Chewbaca and Shrimp. I know, I'm in love with those names, too.
The chemistry that Alex and Melissa have just sparks you with energy and it's so refreshing to see a couple that makes each other laugh and can just be silly together. The feeling of being a fly on the wall could never have been more real when I was photographing them, but also just felt like I was third-wheelin' it with a fun couple of friends. I promise, this was a good thing! Haha.
This session means so much to me as a LGBTQ+ person myself. The feeling of being more inclusive and showcasing more beautiful cultures that make us all up. That was the soul purpose of this session. And I hope to be able to showcase more of this type of work as it holds so much truth and purposefulness in my heart. Truly.
