She went on what she thought was just a summer trip with her boyfriend and his family. While getting ready for an outing, she became flustered with the Miami humidity. Everything from choosing an outfit to deciding how she was going to fix her hair for the day was starting to ruffle her feathers. She had decided she officially hated Miami, and... This was the worst trip ever. But when the sun was setting at the shores of Miami and the day was coming to a close, Raul stepped off the ledge, looked his beautiful girlfriend in the eye and on one knee-- he proposed. Nearly one year after, I hosted a Couples’ Photo Session Giveaway on my social media platforms. Among an amazing handful of entries, Jenny and Raul entered and won! And on the day of their proposal anniversary, we all got together at one of Southern California’s best kept secret gems --- El Matador Beach in Malibu. It was 6:30 a.m., the sun was kept behind a thin layer of clouds for most of our morning, but the overcast sky made for beautifully even light and a dramatic engagement session. As we made our way down to the beach, they shared their proposal story, their love for their fur-babies and Jenny had officially changed her view of Miami. She now says it's her favorite place ever. Ha! I cannot bring to words how excited and thankful I am to work with such amazing people like Jenny and Raul. The love they share, their willingness to be so open and vulnerable with someone who they just met just moments prior is remarkable. If I learned one thing from this session and this couple is this.. Focus on the ones you love. Be willing to laugh at yourself. Always be willing to try something new. You never know what experiences might come your way when you're willing to be vulnerable. And if you're wondering, yes. They're pretty great in front of the camera... ***PRO-Tip: If you're just recently engaged (or engayed!), and prepping for your session, you may want to read my blog post What to Bring to Your Engagement Session.
