My arms are too fat. My stomach sticks out. I’m a bit stumpy. My skin is no good. And the list goes on and on...
These are the types of comments we’ve all heard since we’ve been teenagers. Comments we’ve either told ourselves or have heard others say. Although, the media typically categorized these commentators as “women” that is simply not true. These are comments that are spun around with every and anybody regardless of gender.
I have made a point in my business to be inclusive with all body types. And I’m proud of that.
Personally, I’ve had my fair share of my own weight loss journey (as well as my weight gain journey). And although it’s easier said than done, I think I’m done worrying about what others think of my body just as long as I know what I’m doing to stay healthy. So when I hear people tell me that they’ll hire me or get any sort of photo sessions done when they lose weight, or when they are the desired look and size they aspire to be. Sometimes that’s just not fair. It’s not fair to you if you are that person who wishes and wants to get photos done, but is too afraid of what you will look like. It’s not fair to the person who’s worked really hard to get their business off the ground but just needs some new branding photos done. It’s not fair to your kids who barely have any photos of their parents because they never like to be photographed.
We are in an age of technology that photos can be taken and retaken over and over and over again without much effort, technologically speaking.
It’s okay to prefer one side of your face over the other side. I do that, too. We all have a good side. But also know that the side you think is not your good side is still the side those who love you love that part of you too. So although, we don’t want to worry too much about what others think. I think when they love you, it’s something to consider.
In my business, we celebrate the wins of just wanting photos of the whole family (including you), not just the kids. We want to celebrate you with your flaws. We want to celebrate who you are.
